Chicken Souvlaki with Tzatziki Sauce

Who doesn’t love the fresh, bold flavors of Greek food? This looks like a lot of steps, but it really is a quick weeknight meal. I make them in the order below. Marinade chicken first, then red onions, then Tzatziki sauce. The first time I made this, I only marinated the chicken for 30 minutes and it was still delicious! Enjoy it as is, with Naan or as a salad. Add diced tomatoes, romaine, or feta to make it extra delicious! The Tzatziki sauce makes a lot, so we usually eat this meal two nights. The Tzatziki sauce serves as an excellent salad dressing too!

I have bought Naan from our local bakery in the past, but now make our own (and it’s amazing!). I couldn’t stop eating the warm naan as I was pulling it out of the cast iron skillet.  The recipe is quick and simple, but browning each piece in the cast iron skillet takes around 20 minutes.  Next time, I’ll have both of the cast iron pans going to speed up the process.  This recipe makes eight pieces of Naan and we had one a piece so I was able to stretch this into two meals and two lunches.

Chicken Souvlaki with Tzatziki Sauce
  1. Chicken marinade:
  2. 4 chicken breasts
  3. 1/3 c olive oil
  4. 3 T minced garlic
  5. 3 T fresh lemon juice
  6. 1.5 t oregano
  7. 3/4 t cumin
  8. 1 t garlic powder
  9. buy augmentin tablets Pickled Red Onions:
  10. 1/2 red onion thinly sliced
  11. 3 T white wine vinegar
  12. Misoprostol precio Tzatziki sauce:
  13. 1/2 English cucumber peeled and cubed
  14. 2 cups plain Greek yogurt
  15. 1/3 c chopped fresh dill
  16. 1.5 T freshly squeezed lemon juice
  17. Salt and pepper to taste
  1. 1. Preheat grill to 425
  2. 2. Marinade chicken in bag or bowl for at least 30 minutes.
  3. 3. Thinly slice onions and stir in vinegar. Let sit for at least 20 minutes to soften.
  4. 4. Blend peeled and cubed cucumber, Greek yogurt, dill, and lemon juice with hand immersion blender. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  5. 5. Grill chicken, cover with foil and set aside.
  6. 6. Warm Naan in grill or oven.
  7. 7. Cut chicken into cubes or stripes and create your gyro with pickled onions, Tzatziki, romaine, diced cucumber, tomatoes, and feta.
